What is BVN?

BVN means Bank Verification Number. It is a unique number given to you when you open a bank account in Nigeria. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Nigerian Interbank Settlement System (NIBSS) manage the BVN to help prevent identity theft and make banking safer.
