You sit down to link your Nigerian bank account or start your passport renewal, only to be hit with that familiar roadblock, your National Identification Number (NIN) isn’t validated, or worse, you don’t have one yet.
If you’re based in Lethbridge, there’s no reason to waste an entire day commuting to Edmonton or Calgary and battling for parking just to get your data into the system. Most people don’t realise that a tiny mistake on your birth certificate or a mismatched name on your BVN can stall your validation for months. Getting your biometrics done locally means you can double-check your paperwork with someone who knows exactly how the NIMC database reacts to Canadian-formatted documents before you hit “submit.”
To get your NIN Enrolment sorted without the typical Nigerian “go-and-come” hassle, the team at A&T Global IT Consulting handles the heavy lifting right here in Alberta. They specialise in ensuring your data is captured accurately and synchronised correctly with your bank records, so you aren’t left chasing “Validation Records” that never arrive. It’s the simplest way to get your NIN linked and your focus back on your life in Canada.
At its heart, NIN enrolment is the process of creating your digital identity in the National Identity Database. It isn’t just a paper slip; it involves Biometric Capture, which is the high-tech way of saying we record your unique fingerprints and a specialized facial photograph. This data is then sent for Validation Records check, where the system ensures your details are unique and haven’t been registered before. Once this digital handshake between Canada and Nigeria is complete, you are issued your 11-digit NIN.
Most people think the hardest part is the form. It isn’t. The “make or break” moment happens at the enrolment desk. As your mentor in this process, here is what we’ve learned from years of watching people succeed (and fail):
While we don’t have a permanent “brick and mortar” consulate in the city centre, the diaspora community relies on licensed partners who understand the Alberta landscape. We ensure that you don’t have to spend five hours on the road to Calgary just to find out you brought the wrong photocopy.
A & T Global IT Consulting Services is a licensed NIMC partner. We help Nigerian adults and children living in North America enroll for their NIN.
To login to your NIN account online, use the NIMC MWS Mobile ID app or the NIMC Self-Service Portal.
On the mobile app, enter your 11-digit NIN and the phone number used during enrollment to receive an OTP. To access the web portal, you need a UserID and a Security PIN, both generated within the "Security PIN" section of the app. If you lack a smartphone, dial *346*2*YourNIN# to receive these credentials via SMS.
The NIN once issued to a person cannot be used again, (that is, it cannot be issued to another person even if the previous person is dead).
To use this service, simply go through the following steps: Dial *346# From the options displayed, select “NIN Retrieval”, by typing in '1', if you are using the same phone number you enrolled with for your NIN. Follow the steps displayed on your screen and provide the required inputs.
